West’s league decision
PA Auckland The experienced rugby league second rower, Graham West, said yesterday he would not play again for New Zealand. West, formerly from Taranaki but now contracted to the English club, Wigan, said his decision was final, and had been made for personal reasons. Apart from one more game for Taranaki — against Well-
ington in New Plymouth this week-end — he will not play again in this country. West, aged 29, replaced the injured Kiwi captain, Mark Graham, during Sunday’s first test against Australia at Carlaw Park. His decision means he will miss the second test at Brisbane on July 9. He said his relegation to the test reserves had been a factor in his decision.
