Bishop appointed commissary
The Bishop of Aotearoa, the Rt Rev. W. Vercoe, has been appointed as commissary for the electoral synod of the Christchurch Diocese to elect a successor to the Rt Rev. W. A. Pyatt. The appointment was announced by the Archbishop of New Zealand, the Most Rev. P. A. Reeves. Bishop Vercoe has set the date of the synod as August 30-31. The synod will meet
privately at Christ’s College. On Monday, August 29, a service of intercession, conducted by Bishop Vercoe will be held at the Christchurch Cathedral. The service will begin at 7.30 p.m. The synod will convene at 10.30 a.m. the next morning, after Holy Communion in the Christ’s College chapel. Bishop Vercoe will be the celebrant.
