For appointment at the Senior Lecturer level a minimum of a PhD. or equivalent and 5 years postdoctoral University teaching Is required. The appointee may be required to teach at both degree and foundation level. There is an emphasis on applied physics within the School and the appointee will be required to take responsibility for the teaching of courses within this Physics programme, Including one in modern electronics. The appointee will also be expected to undertake research In the application of electronics devices to such fields as renewable energy supplies, environmental physics and ionospheric physics. PROFESSOR OF MATHEMATICS (Post 83/41) APPLICANTS should have an excellent record of teaching, research, publications and administration. Their academic interests should cover at least two of the following: applied mathematics, computing, mathematics education, pure mathematics and statistics. The discipline is responsible for courses in mathematics, statistics and computing to internal and extension (external) students at pre-degree, diploma and degree levels as well as for postgraduate work and research. Salary will be in accordance with qualifications and experience in the range: F 524,276-25,952. In addition the University provides gratuity amounting to 15 p.c. of basic salary, appointment allowance and, subject to the University’s current housing policy, partly furnished accommodation at a rental of 1214 p.c. of salary. The University will pay an allowance in lieu of superannuation of 10 p.c. of standard salary. In some cases this allowance may be paid direct to the appointee’s existing superannuation scheme subject to a decision on acceptability of the scheme by the Commissioner of Inland Revenue.
