Navy recalls crew
PA Auckland Sailors of H.M.N.Z.S. Waikato were called urgently to their ship last evening. A Navy spokesman said that the frigate was required for urgent patrol duties, but would not elaborate. The Waikato’s crew is on leave after a stint in the Indian Ocean with the British Navy. Messages were broadcast on Auckland radio stations for them to return to their ship. A statement on the frigate’s mission is expected this afternoon.
