Asian leader to visit
NZPA Bangkok Premier Son Sann of the United Nations-recognised Kampuchean Government will leave Bangkok for a private but politically important visit to Australia and New Zealand, close aides and diplomats have said. Embassy sources said that it was not immediately clear whether Mr Son Sann, who heads the non-Com-munist Khmer People’s National Liberation Front (K.P.N.L.F.), would meet Foreign Ministers, Mr Bill Hayden, of Australia, and Mr Warren Cooper, of New Zealand. But diplomats from the Australian and New Zealand embassies said that senior Foreign Ministry officials would certainly confer with Mr Son Sann, who is to spend a Week visiting Sydney, Canberra, and Melbourne before travelling to Wellington for a week’s stay. In New Zealand, Mr Son Sann, who will travel on a tourist visa, will probably be received by officials as an “eminent Kampuchean personality,” according to an embassy source. Mr Son Sann is due to return to Bangkok on May 21.
