Cashelmara looked in fine heart at Awapuni yesterday morning when she galloped in preparation for the Miramar Handicap at Trentham. Cashelmara failed at her last start on Anzac Day yet she looks capable of quick improvement.
Cashelmara galloped on the course proper, which provided good footing. She was quickly into stride and ran the 1000 m in Imin 545, the last 600 in 37.85. Paul Goss will ride her and a big run is expected. Desert Sabre went freely over 1200 m in Imin 20s, the last 600 in 41s. He has not looked back since winning here last week but there could be a doubt regarding a start at Trentham as his trainer, Laurie Christensen, is having difficulty in obtaining a suitable rider. He will decide this morning.
Tredici ran from the 1000
in Imin 7.65, the last 600 in 39.6 s but he .is not engaged until next week. He looks all the better for a recent race.
Purple Bay went freely ovqr 1000 m in Imin ss, the last 600 in 375. She won well here last week and will line up at the Marton meeting on Wednesday. Kaoru Star and the Trentham candidate, Piquant, ran 600 in 37.45, while Ellen’s Soldier went impressively over 1200 m in Imin 18s, the last 600 in 38s.
Hirelm and Imaprince took Imin 7s for 1000 m, the last 600 in 395. Hirelm has improved since resuming at Woodville on Saturday. Royal Legend galloped 800 m in 51s, the last 600 in 37.55. Chatterley Lass and Treble Gold were together running 1200 m in Imin 21s, the last 600 in 38.45. Chatterley Lass ruined her chance by a bad beginning in her last start, and gets another chance at Trentham.
