Two trial classes to Little River dogs
Kevin Lamont, of Little River, won two of the four classes at the Canterbury dog trial championships held at Little Riveef last week. Lamont, with his seven-year-old dog, Bess, outpointed his rivals in the zig-zag huntaway and straight huntaway events. R. Millar, with Boy, won the head, pull, and hold-in-ring class, and N. Hore, with Vic, was the winner of the head, pull, drive, and yard event. More than 320 entries were
received for the championships, for which the Banks Peninsula Collie Club was the host. Results were:— Class I, head, pull, and hold-in-ring: R. Millar, Boy, 194 points, 1; D. W. Calder, Tweed, 192 Ms, 2; A. G. Dickson, Chief, 192, 3; G. H. Barnes, Queen, 191, 4; J. Popplewell, Snow, 187%, 5. Class 11, head, pull, drive, and yard: N. Hore, Vic, 195, 1; M. Bell, Fame, 194%, 2; G. Dickie, Tweed, 192, 3; J. Popplewell, Snow, 190%, 4; H. M. King, Gem, 184%, 5. Class 111, zig-zag huntaway: K. Lamont, Bess, 196%, 1; R. D. Parsons, Bill, 193%, 2; G. Woods, Wally, 192, 3; E. J. Weir, Jake, 189%, 4; J. Kotlowski, Digger, 189%, 5. Class IV straight huntaway, K. Lamont, Bess, 194, 1; P. Emmerson, Swag, 191%, 2; J. Kotlowski, Digger, 188%, 3; D. W.
