Yachting lead to de Thier
PA Auckland Brett de Thier. Auckland, and his 14-year-old forward hand, Jer Stephenson, made good use of light airs to take two wins and a second placing to gain the over-all lead in the national Tornado Olympic class yachting championship at Auckland yesterday. In the first race of the day, sailed in a breeze of between five and eight knots, de Thier and Stephenson were at their best, beating Brian Peet, Auckland, into second place. . Rex Sellers and Gerald Sly, Nelson, who had won the opening raee on Wednesday, - were third.
After four heats of the 10race series, de Thier leads with the loss of 8.7 points. Next is Sellers (13.7), Mills (27) and Peet (29.7).
