N.Z. netball trialists
PA Palmerston North New Zealand's squad to play in mid-June's world netball championships in Singapore will not contain any new plavers, the national coach, Nirs Lois Muir, said yesterday. Trials to pick the 10-mem-ber team will be held in Palmerston North this weekend. and Mrs Muir says experience will play a big oart in the final selection. “I'm under no illusions that it's going to be an easy job. "New Zealand must take the best team it has to the world championships." she said- u, u “There will be no blooding. You can't afford to introduce players to international netball at world tournaments." Even without any newcomers. Mrs Muir faces selection headaches. Wellington's Margaret Matenga, one of the worlds finest goal shooters, mayhave to rely on reputation to get to Singapore. She has only just had plaster removed from the leg she injured in New Zealand s final match of its tour of the United Kingdom The squad will be named tomorrow evening, with two other players also being named as on-call reserves. Proudlove (Otago), D. Sullivan (Canterbury), N. Taumaunu (Canterbury), K. Walsh (North Shore), Y. Willering (Auckland), and G. Hohipuha (Canterbury).
