Maori news on TV
Sir, — My grievance is against the lack of thought that has gone into the Maori news on television New Zealand. The programme is placed at peak viewing time, which I do not mind, but unfortunately cannot understand. Surely to be able to follow some of the news articles on this, programme an English text should be supplied. Therefore, the majority of English-speaking New Zealanders would be able to understand what the minority of Maorispeaking New Zealanders are saying. This in turn would lead to a better understanding of the Maori language and culture. — Yours, etc., S. WILLIAMSON. March 9, 1982.
