Week off for workers
PA Auckland More than 300 workers at Ford's car assembly plant at Wiri will take next week off to help the company lessen the risk of redundancies.
The plant’s assembly line will stop for five days. Only a small maintenance crew will be at work as Ford tries to reduce its stockpile of new cars.
Motor industry unions have agreed to the shutdown after the company, said about 70 workers could be laid off if the stockpile was not re- < duced.
