Tick Tack wins narrowly

PA Invercargill Tick Tack, a winner on the course in October, staged a successful return to racing when she outstayed Dab Chick in the Allen Brown Breeders' Stakes, first leg of the Invercargill T.A.B. double yesterday. Away from racing for 14 weeks, Tick Tack was produced in forward order bySouthland’s leading trainer, Allan Devery. The sixth favourite, she raced near the back, but threatened the leaders on the home turn when she improved sharply three wide. Dab Chick followed her round and the pair sorted themselves out early in the run home; neither gave an inch, but Tick Tack saw it through by half a head. There was half a length back to Abbey Knight, which lost a lot of ground early on. but ran on strongly.
