Renault’s plans
Regie Renault. the nationalised French carmaker. is developing a replacement for the ageing Renault 20 and 30 hatchbacks. but it is unlikely to be launched until next year. This car. which has been unofficially labelled the R2l 40. looks almost like a fourdoor version of the Renault Fuegb coupe, having the Fuego's large sloping rear
window, although it is a considerably wider ear It is believed that the new model will be offered with 1.6. 2.0 and 2.2-litre petrol engines, as well as a 2.1-litre diesel engine. In the meantime Renault has announced that it is recalling 8000 RlB and Fuego models, built between June 1980 and January 1981. for an urgent brake check.
