Pensioner flats get approval

Parliamentary reporter Government approval has been given for the Waimea County Council to build its first pensioner flats, at Wakefield. Through the Housing Corporation. the council will receive $112.000.t0 help it build four units in stage one of a 16-unit project at Edwards Street. Wakefield. The council will get a subsidy of $43,000 and a loan of $69,000 for its building programme. The flats will be built under a design and build proposal. The project has already been advertised, and the council has received a number of inquiries. The council already administers 10 units in Brightwater and Murchison. This showed that there was a need in the area for this type of accommodation, said the Minister of Housing. Mr Friedlander.
