Nitrogen plant contract let
PA Wellington A $2.4 million contract for the supply of a nitrogen separation plant for the Motunui synthetic petrol plant has been awarded -to N.Z. Industrial Gases, Ltd. The separation plant will produce to 40 tonnes a day of gaseous nitrogen for use in the synthetic petrol process. Part of the nitrogen may also be liquefied for on-site storage in twin 100-tonne capacity vessels. The inert properties of the nitrogen gas will be used to ensure the safe handling and storage of the synthetic hydrocarbons, and also to regularly regenerate the catalyst beds.
