Trading slows again
Trading was again less active on an easier New Zealand sharemarket yesterday. Alter busy buying and selling earlier in the week, trading has wound down in the last three days, and the total value of shares sold each day dropped dramatically. Yesterday 1,030.101 shares were sold for $1.072.905.9. with 20 rises and 27 falls. There was some evidence of bargain hunting as the tone steadied a little. Ernest Adams made the largest gain —10 c to 270 c: 5c rises were by Chenery Holdings to 245. Comalco (245). Marac Holdings (185), TPTNC (165). Wilson and Horton (420) and Yates (330). After Thursday's large gain BHP dropped 25c to 1275; but the largest fall was by Farrier-Waimak by 30 to 120. Smiths City Market dropped by 15 to 170, Dalgety NZ fell by 10 to 230. and a group of six lost sc: Baitray to 100. Carter Holt to 345. Colyer Watson (115). NZ News (320), Nuhaka (170). and NZSB 85.
