Cricket prayers
Sir, — Mr May (February 15) again seizes an opportunity to fulminate against Christianity — under this unlikely heading. Once more he fails to distinguish between fact and fallacy, nominal Christianity and the real thing. The fact that God does hear and answer genuine prayer, is amply demonstrated in history, and is attested by many thousands in Christchurch today from all walks of life. Atheistic humanism cannot understand this, and will not face its challenge. God does not take sides as implied by Mr May, but hears and answers according to His own nature of love, truth and wisdom. It is His great desire to bless, but He will not force blessing against our will. We have been given the dignity of free will. That dignity carries a corresponding responsibility with which goes accountability. There will be wars as long as the human will is set against God — but do not blame God for the consequences. Yours, etc..
H. G. ORAM. February 15. 1983.
