Lead in petrol opposed
The Nurses' Society of New Zealand wants lead banned in petrol. Mr David Wills, the society's national director, said that while the issue of lead and its effects on humans was complex and controversial, much evidence showed lead in petrol to be a significant health risk. "Our members see lead in petrol as a significant source of atmospheric pollution and an environmental health hazard that could be eliminated." he said. The society would raise the issue in representations to the Government. Mr Wills said.
