National colts softball
PA Tauranga Wellington beat Hutt Valley. 30. to win the national colts softball tournament in Tauranga yesterday. A surprise 1-0 win by Hawke's Bay over Wellington in the last game of section play yesterday morning meant that Auckland and Wellington clashed in a semi-final instead of the expected final. Wellington won the semi-final. 1-0. in the eighth innings when the Wellington pitcher. Michael White, was tagged at home base
but the ball was dropped by the Auckland catcher and the run scored. Hutt Valley beat Counties. 7-3. to meet Wellington in the final which proved largely uneventful. Wellington's three runs coming in the third innings. Other platings; Auckland 3. Hawke’s Bay 4. Manawatu 5. North Shore 6. Canterbury 7. Counties 8. Otago 9. Waikato 10. Southland 11, Whangarei 12, Midlands 13. Bay of Plenty 14. MidCanterbury 15. Bay of Islands 16, Taumarunui 17.
