Jeantot leads solo fleet
NZPA Paris A Frenchman, Phillipe 1 Jeantot. leader on the third stage of the 8.0. C. Challenge round the world singlehanded yacht race, rounded Cape Horn on the southern tip of South America yesterday and is on course to complete the Sydney to Rio de Janeiro leg before the end of the month. If he manages this. Jeantot. in his boat Credit Agricole. will be well in advance
of his predictions. It will enable him to complete a personal third victory on the Sydney to Rio stage. Behind the Frenchman on this third leg of the race are Bertie Reed, of South Africa, a Japanese yachtsman, Yuko Tada. and the Briton, Richard Broadhead, rescuer of the Frenchman, Jacques de Roux, last week. All three should round Cape Horn in the next few days.
