lan Smith of Central Districts and Richard Hadlee (Canterbury) headed the batting and bowling averages respectively in the Shell
Trophy cricket competition which ended last week-end. _ Most runs were scored by Bruce Blair of Otago, and
Vaughan Brown (Canterbury) took most wickets. In the averages which follow, batsmen with a minimum of five innings and an
average in excess of 25 are included; the bowling requirements are 10 wickets or more at an average below 30.
The leading widket-keepers. in dismissals, were: McSweeney 23 (c 22 si): P. Kelly 20 (clB s2): Smith 20 (cl 9 si): B. Milburn 17 (cl 7 Most catches in the field were taken by L. Crocker (11) followed by Reid and B. eight each. •«
