Change of venue

PA Invercargill The first day of the Southland Racing Club’s autumn meeting tomorrow has been transferred to the Riverton course. The second day of the meeting, next Monday, will also be held at Riverton. The change of venue was forced on the Southland Racing Club because the Invercargill course is unsuitable to race on after a prolonged spell of wet weather in the south. There are several boggy patches on the Invercargill course. The chief stipendiary steward, Mr Jock McCulloch, of Dunedin, inspected the track at Invercargill early yesterday morning. Several horses worked on it and the club’s senior officials and Mr McCulloch agreed that the track was unsafe for racing. The Riverton course was later agreed on as a suitable substitute. The - same timetable and programme will be run off at Riverton.
