Dogs on beaches

Sir,—What ' a tirade in response to my letter regarding dogs on beaches. One would think I . had advocated the banishment of all dogs. I am not against people owning dogs providing they show some tolerance towards those who do not. All I ask is that for six months of the year they consider the non-owners, the other half is theirs to roam to their heart's (or dog’s) content. I am quite aware of the mess left by humans. Many times I have collected up cans, and glass and brought them home for disposal. However, I do not feel inclined to pick up dog excreta and bring it home; I have enough of that left on my own lawns all year round—Yours, etc.,
