“Man of the match”
Sir,—l-endorse R. T. Brittenden's article of (“The Press.” February 8). It would pay for some of the Australian cricket writers, to emulate Mr Brittenden's fair and unbiased reporting. The award to Marsh was not given for his expertise as a cricketer. He may appear wearing football boot’s in the next series. — Yours, etc.. H. J. ANDERSON. February 8. 1983.
Sir,—lt causes me great concern that the immoral act of Rodney Marsh in wilfully kicking a ball away is allowed to pass with so little comment from an apparently amoral press. That this man be awarded “man of the match” is despicable. Society's standards have slumped if this is acceptable behaviour when you can get away with it. And where are the watchdogs of our community standards? I presume they are keeping a watchful eye for pubic hairs. — Yours, etc..
P. WATT. February 7, 1983.
