Fans mourn Karen
NZPA Los Angeles More than 1500 people packed a funeral service yesterday for Karen Carpenter, of The Carpenters, who died at the week-end.
Miss Carpenter, who was 32. died apparently of a heart attack in Los Angeles after being treated for 18 months for anorexia nervosa, or compulsive dieting. Many of the mourners were young women fans. The service was relayed from the Downey United Methodist Church, where the family and close friends gathered, to fans standing outside.
