Smolenski suspended
PA Blenheim Jack Smolensk! was suspended until February 18 after being found guilty of careless driving in the Grenfelt Motel Handicap, first leg of the T.A.B. double, at the Marlborough Trotting Club’s meeting at Waterlea on Monday.
Smolensk! who drove Harvey’s Sister, was found to have caused lady Luca, Espiritu, and Ventre Hanover, to be pulled up. Harvey’s Sister was disqualified from fourth placing and Crafty Admiral was promoted to fourth. After an inquiry into the running of Gay World, the third place-getter in the Brent Ruffell Electrical Maiden, the driver, lan Cameron, was fined $5O for failing to return his horse to the proper gate. The stipendiary stewards ruled that Gay World had gained no advantage when it broke and that its third placing stood.
