Multi-coloured prints
The Showcase Gallery is continuing its policy of presenting new art\with an exhibition of graphics and prints by Douglas Hendrey, a graphic designer from London. Divided into two parts, the show, which will run until February 18. spans five years of printmaking and graphics,
and illustrates Hendrey’s belief that the two disciplines are inseparable. The multi-coloured prints are based on photographic images, and the influences of the artists experiments in printmaking are apparent in the graphic designs. In London. Hendrey
worked for “Rocking Russian." a graphics company which designed record covers and tee-shirts for pop bands. A graduate with a firstclass honours degree in graphic design. 24-year-old Hendrey has recently arrived in Christchurch, and this is his first exhibition in New Zealand.
