Non-aggression pacts

Sir,—l asked Mr Newman to tell us what he calls “the free world” and his reasons for doing so. He has given us New Zealand as an example (I wanted a definition) and Jsays one can put one’s views forward “without fear of imprisonment, concentration camp or internment in a mental institution.” Was the United States a "free contry” when Martin Luther King was imprisoned for putting his views forward in public? I still want Mr Newman to define “the free world” so that we may con- • tinue our debate. Perhaps I should say that a definition would classify “the free world” as “all those countries” and then name the qualities that all “free world” countries have but no countries that are not “free" have.—Yours, etc., SUSAN TAYLOR.
