Passion’s Pride good prospect at Tauranga

Special correspondent Auckland Though topweight with 57kg, Passion's Pride looks a good prospect for the Summer Handicap at Tauranga today. The amount, after all. is skg less than she scored with last time. Certainly it was a highweight Passion's Pride won in her last attempt, over •2200 m at Ellerslie on the Second day of the DB Auckland Cup meeting. The opposition, though, was not easy, the 2200 m a fair test which Passion’s Pride came through a length and a half better than the runner-up, Rushcutter. Two starts back Passion’s Pride finished second, beaten narrowly, over 2600 m at Avondale on December 18, so she is in good form altogether. The Summer Handicap is a class three 2100 m, the Bay of Plenty meeting being restricted in its programme, and the field contains a fair number of moderates in consequence. Zim Zam. Quito Lad and Seaweed have been showing some promise, however, and Quinquennial, as a three-year-old last season, looked on the way to good form. A disappointment in his last race, at Avondale on December 18, Young Generation was such an impressive winner the time before, in his only other start, that he commands attention in the second leg, the Second Holiday Handicap. Capricious, Tartan Lad and Sean’s Gold have also, shown sufficient ability to go well if in top form.
