Former P.M. returned
NZPA Apia Western Samoa's former Prime Minister. Va'ai Kolone, who lost his seat in Parliament in an election petition last year, was returned to Parliament on Saturday in a by-election by a margin of 21 votes. The only other candidate. Tufuga Pule, who also ran against Va’ai in the last General Ejection, polled only 189 votes.
The return of Va’ai, the former leader of the Human Rights Protection Party which returned to power in December last year, has increased the Government’s majority in the House to two.
The new Government under the Prime Minister. Tofilau Eti, last week announced its new Cabinet but it is not clear at this stage if Va’ai will be a member of it.
