American Indians to get marae welcome
PA Hamilton A marae will be used at the Sweetwaters Festival at Pukekawa this month to welcome two American Indians. ' For the first time a formal. but temporary, marae will be set up at the festival. Port Waikato Maori people from Te Kohanga marae will establish it. The Sweetwaters alternative area co-ordinator. Mr Simon James, said Maori people wanted to strengthen the link with Red Indians. The two ethnic races regarded themselves as having common basic cultural be-
liefs. Princess Crow Woman will represent Indians of the United States and is a Blackfoot from Nevada. Stronglakes will represent Canadian Indians and is a member of the Ute and Abaneke tribes. Princess Crow Woman will teach the Indian wisdom of healing with Nature, and Stronglakes will speak of youth problems. Stronglakes, or Dr Edwin Richardson, is a doctor of psychology and national director of the Canadian Human Resource Centre.
