Top squash seeds win
The top seeds, Paul Viggers and Joanne Milne, won the A grade men's and women’s finals of the Cave Rock Sumner squash open tournament at the week-end, but in contrasting styles. Viggers lost the first two sets to Craig Hibbert before finding his touch and taking the next three quite comfortably. Miss Milne, however,
gave Susan Wasley no respite and conceded only three points in their three sets. Results were:— Men A grade—Semi-finals: P: Viggers beat R. Burnett, 9-2, 7-9, 9-6, 5-9, 9-3; C, Hibbert beat L. C. Sparks, 9-7, 9-3, 9-1. Final: Viggers beat Hibbert, 5-9, 1-9, 9,0, 9-6, 9-5. B grade.-- Final: F. Young beat
G. Cotton, 9-1, ,3-9, 9-3, 4-9, 9-7. C grade.—Final: P. Fellowes beat P. Platt, 9-1, 5-9, 9-4, 9-3. Women A grade.—Semi-finals: J. Milne beat J. Marriott, 9-2, 9-2, 9-4; S. Wasley beat C. Oakley, 4-9, 9-5, 9-6, 9-0. Final: Miss Milne beat Miss Wasley, 9-0, 9-1, 9-2. B grade.—Final: B. Donovan beat G. Rush, 9-0, 7-9, 9-2, 10-8.
