Accountancy courses
Sir,—P. Roselli’s assertion that “there is a great tendency today towards voluntary immobility and this is worsening unemployment” ignores the housing crisis; which is not surprising when even our Minister of Housing denies that we have one and the Department of Labour continues to ask applicants for jobs if they are prepared to relocate. I am sure many people would move if they could be assured of rental accommodation or a mortgage renegotiated at existing rates. Experience tells me that this is not so in the rural North Canterbury area or the Nelson district. Indeed, I suspect that the problem is a general one after hearing of a family in a small North Island town who had to leave employment because their rented home was no longer available and they could not find another home in the area. — Yours, etc.. G. EDWARDS. January 5. 1983.
