Gunman surrenders
PA Palmerston North The hunted Taihape gunman. George Flood, gave himself up to searching police at Ohakune yesterday morning. Flood walked into the Ohakune police station, used as a base for the hunt, at 7.10 pm. Inspector Mick Tarling, of the Palmerston North police, said that Flood was suffering from slight exposure and a severely lacerated hand which received immediate medical treatment. '
Mr Tarling said Flood had been hiding in bush country since Wednesday evening. He said the man would probably be arrested for offences in relation to violence after a domestic dispute on Wednesday evening. The police on Thursday had systematically searched the bush and had checked empty holiday houses. Armed offenders squad police from Palmerston North, Wanganui, and New Plymouth were involved in the hunt.
