First black air chief
The Zimbabwean Government has appointed its first black senior Air Force commander. Major-General. Josiah Tungamirai, aged 34. chief of army operations and training, becomes an air vice-marshal. His appointment is part of a programme to Africanise the Air Force, dominated by whites before and since Rhodesia became independent Zimbabwe in 1980.—Harare.
