Woodend scrub fire
Part of the Woodend Beach camping ground was evacuated yesterday as fire swept through three hectares of scrub and young pine trees on the foreshore. Two units from Woodend and one from Rangiora
fought the blaze which crept within 30 metres of tents in the camping ground. "About three hectares behind the camp were burnt,” said Mr Murray Lamb, of the Woodend Volunteer Fire Brigade.
