Labour leadership
Sir,—M. T. Moore (December 30) chooses not to defend Bill Rowling’s leadership, or lack thereof, but to attack the Prime Minister and his style, using names such as Leonid Brezhnev, Malcolm Fraser and Jimmy Carter to enforce his views. As we are neither a socialist State nor suffer the per capita percentage of unemployment of' U.S.A, or Australia, and New Zealand is experiencing a now-falling inflation rate, I cannot accept the arguments of Mr Moore. In addition, Rob Muldoon’s price freeze is 6 months ahead of Australia’s and we still enjoy a triple-A credit rating overseas. Furthermore, an increasing number of world leaders are giving support to a second Bretton Woods Conference as proposed by Rob Muldoon, including some African leaders who were so-called affronted by the rugby tour mentioned by Mr Moore. The point I make, and quite validly, is that in these years of difficult world conditions, Rob Muldoon is leading at home, in his party, and abroad on the world scene. Surely that is what leadership is—Yours, etc., WILLIAM RICHARDSON. December 30, 1982.
