p A Wellington Auckland's Mark Long showed the benefits of his experience in the United States as he stunned the second seed, Jeremy Grubi. to reach the boys' final of the national under-18 tennis championships in Wellington today. Long, aged 16. beat Wellingtonian Grubi. 6-2, 6-1, and in todays final will meet Auckland's Andrew Lobb who staged a spirited fightback to beat Mark Collins. 1-6, 6-3, 6-2. four times they have met. but on yesterday's form the Aucklander, who this year sat School Certificate examinations, looked the more mature player. Long spent three months in Florida this year under the eye of the coach. lan CTookenden. It was his third trip to the United States. In the second semi-final Lobb was blasted off the court in the first set by the big-serving Collins but slowlv worked his way into the game, chipping and changing direction well.
