How to spend six days in a leaky tent? Ask Anne Marshall, aged 18, and at right, Fiona Hayes, aged 17, both of Christchurch. Their tent, pitched at Leithfield Beach Motor Camp, gave flimsy shelter from yesterday’s driving rain. The girls, who are holidaying with two friends until Friday, keep their spirits up by listening to music, reading, and playing cards. Driving wind has kept them off the beach, but Anne got a touch of sunburn in the camp on Tuesday. She says: “The nearest we have got to swimming was in the tent.”
