Softball washed out
PA Wellington Hutt Valley's Cardinals still hope to run the Cowans 10.000 softball tournament, which was washed out over the week-end. Organisers and players were bitterly disappointed when heavy rain allowed only 40 minute's play on Saturday and consistent overnight rain ruled out any play yesterday. Cardinals' president. Murray Forrest, said yesterday that he was looking at- two alternatives to put to his executive. "It will have to be discussed but 1 think it would be possible
to play the tournament on the Friday. Saturday and Sunday preceding the Pan Am national club championships." he said. "The nationals start in Palmerston North on March, 2 and teams could call in at Wellington for the week-end on their way. "The other alternative is that we would get the teams together on another date and play for no prize money. "One way or another we will get it played." Mr Forrest said that the tournament would also., be held again next season. 1 '.
