Venues for fishing contest

The Waimakarirt River and Cheviot will be the venues for the South Island section of an annual fishing contest early next year. More than $30,000 worth of prizes plus a trip to Fiji are offered in the tenth annual Daiwa Circuit Fishing Contest. which will begin in Northland in January. The South Island venues are Napenape, on the east

coast near Cheviot on January 15. and at the mouth of the Waimakariri River on March 5. The trip to Fiji will be the Grand Circuit prize for the largest fish caught over the 13 contests. This would be in June, when the first Daiwa Circuit would be held there, said one of the conveners. Mr A. Russell.
