Trade with South Africa
Sir.—Supporters of HART on Saturday blocked the vehicle access to the Beckenham Ghost Cellars for a short period. This action is the beginning of a new phase in HART's campaign to stop the importing and distribution of South African wines into New Zealand. Quill Humphreys are the New Zealand agents’for wines marketed by South Africa's Stellenbosch Farmers Wineries. Attempts have been made over a period of months by shareholders, including myself, to discuss the matter with Quill Humphreys' management, but without success. Direct action seems to be the obvious course to take now in order to emphasise the necessity to uphold the United Nations' trade embargoes on South Africa. Action by the New Zealand antiapartheid movement has meant the severing of links between New Zealand and South'African insurance companies over recent years. It
