Envoy to visit Chch
Sweden's new Ambassador to New Zealand. Mr Christer Sylven, will pay his first South Island visit to Christchurch this week-end. Mr Sylven will arrive this evening with his wife. Vivi. “I think it is only natural to come as soon as possible to the South," he said. His three-day itinerary will start on an informal note with the Scandinavian Club's Christmas party at Landsdowne Community Centre. Cashmere, tomorrowafternoon. The next morning he will call on the Mayor of Christchurch. Sir Hamish Hay, before attending an official luncheon and an evening reception. Mr Sylven took up his first ambassadorial position on September 1. He was formerly the director of the personnel division of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Stockholm.
