Sponsorship of Oaks
PA • Wellington The New Zealand Oaks, one of the five classic races, will be sponsored by Wellington’s two newspapers, the “Dominion" and the “Evening Post.” It will retain its name and the stake will be worth $65,000 — an increase of $15,000. The sponsorship was jointly announced by the Wellington Racing Club secretary, Mr B. R. Guthrie, and the managing director of INL — owner of the two newspapers — Mr J. A. Robson. The race will be run at Trentham on 29.
