It is hoped that the appointee will be a specialist holding a higher qualification in anaesthesia but others who have a special interest and experience in this field should also apply. The hospital has 104 general beds and is well equipped for a hospital of its size. The average occupancy last year was 70. The salary for a specialist will be within an eight step set scale of $35,121 to $45,213 a year with an annnual increment to the maximum. An appointee, not being a specialist, will hold the position of medical officer of special scale on a salary within the range $24,285 to $42,717 a year. The commencing salary will be determined by the Director-General of Health and will be paid in proportion to hours worked. Conditions of Appointment. This position will involve participation in all aspects of the research including the interviewing of respondents throughout New Zealand. Substantial travelling may be involved and own transport is essential. Applicants must have a sound grounding in both a social science discipline (psychology, economics, sociology) and knowledge of modern multivariate statlsical and computing methods.
