People with, innovative ideas and products that may have a small business future can now get help , from a library researcher who works for the Christchurch City Council’s employment promotion office. * •. Information for clients about such things as patents, registered designs, copyrights, and trademarks is being gathered to help the council’s small business ad-, visory service, and the
research. can also help on other specific subjects. A survey of retail outlets is. being done to assist existing businesses to diversify, and to help in the setting lip of new businesses which need information about products in short supply on. the local market, or which could be manufactured locally instead of being imported. .*■ Research into other areas of employment growth potential is being done. -
The real loser was not the National Party, but the ordinary motorist. At the current average monthly conversion rate it would take until 1998 to reach 150,000 conversions — 13 years behind target, he said.
