Mr Trought leaves M.A.F.

A well-known scientist with the Research Division of the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries, Mr T. E. T. Trought, retires next week.

Mr Trought has spent 15 years with the M.A.F. division in Canterbury and most recently worked in the biological control of grass grubs and pdrinas. He commented recently that he had seen emphasis in pest control move from the use of chemicals to biological agents, such as nematodes.

Until recently Mr Trought was leader of the pest control group of the Research Division, northern region, South Island, and officer-in-charge of the M.A.F.’s Lincoln agricultural research unit.

Mr Trought will be continuing his work on pest control for Coated Seeds, Ltd, of Christchurch.
