Improvements at Sumner
Sir, — In response to Gwenda Lewis (November 22) I too wish to congratulate the Christchurch City Council for erecting ramps for easy access over the sea wall. It may interest Gwenda Lewis and others, that the project was initiated by the Sumner Residents’ Association, a Neighbourhood Committee, as was the matter of . the sea wall itself, and the steps over the sea wall. The association was also responsible for the concrete ramps over the rocks on to the beach. Neighbourhood committees are valued by the City Council, as they can present the views of their districts on matters that concern them. I am sure that the elderly, the infirm and pram pushers will appreciate the improved access over the sea wall to the foreshore. — Yours, etc.,
B. R. HANSEN. November 24, 1982.
