Fruitgrowers favour tenders
PA Tauranga Most of New Zealand’s fruitgrower associations favour tendering for kiwifruit export licences, it has been revealed. The managing director of the Kiwifruit Authority, Dr Donald Brash, said that only the Te Puke and Nelson fruitgrowers opposed changes to the authority regulations. Te Puke growers objected to the tendering proposals, while Nelson growers were unhappy about the authority’s voting system, he said. 'Authority representatives had visited 11 fruitgrower associations in the last fortnight to get approval for the changes.
