$l500 for Space Invaders
PA Auckland A former cashier yesterday admitted spending ¥l5OO of his employer’s money on Space Invaders machines. Setefano Tele, aged 21, a salesman, of Grey Lynn, pleaded guilty in the District Court at Auckland to a charge that between February 1 and October 26 he stole various sums of money, totalling $4282, belonging to his employer, Produce Markets Ltd. Sergeant Timothy Hughes said Tele had handled between $2OOO and $4OOO a
week as the company’s cashier. Over nine months Tele took sums of money, neglecting to record the stolen sums in the firm’s receipt book. On October 26 he went to his employer and admitted the theft. ■> Tele told police that he started taking the money to pay for produce for his family. He said he spent $l5OO on Space Invaders, Mr Hughes said. Judge. A. Deobhakta remanded Tele on bail until December 8 for probation report and sentence.
